Random Access Memories by Daft Punk

random access memories album art
It’s an album from Daft Punk. It’s new. Just buy it. Seriously though, we just gave Random Access Memories two listen through’s and it certainly did not disappoint. With a combination of electronic, disco, funk, soft rock, and pop it’s definitely a well-rounded album by the famous duo. It also features collaborations with musicians such as Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers and Julian Casablancas.

Adam McDonough Kickstarter

At Frachelli, we love music, we love Kickstarter projects, and we also love friends. One of our friends is currently running a Kickstarter project to record his debut solo album, so it was a no brainer to share the project with our readers. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed seeing Adam McDonough perform live and are definitely excited for the release of Coast to Coast. He also throws one hell of a BBQ.

Song of the Week | Reckoner by Radiohead

Reckoner is off Radiohead’s awesome 2007 album In Rainbows. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing the song played live a few years back, but for those who haven’t seen Thom Yorke in action, here’s a semi-live version of the song performed for Radiohead’s film Scotch Mist. Hope you enjoy the seductive mystique of this song as much as I do.

Song of the Week | El San Lorenzo by Villalobos Brothers

We recently saw the Villalobos Brothers perform in Hoboken with a few friends. We were there to see a rock band and didn’t expect to see an opener comprised of three Mexican violinists and a guitar player. About halfway through their first song, we all looked at each other and were like “this is f*!king awesome.” The music video above is for the Villalobos Brothers song El San Lorenzo which was shot on the rooftops of Brooklyn – and we hope you like it as much as we did seeing them perform it live. Check out their website and catch them on tour if you just so happen to be in Mexico.

Song of the Week | Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana

Every so often we get a real hankering for some good old ’90s rock and as a result Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana is our Song of The Week. The hit song was off their 1991 album Nevermind, which has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and reached #1 on the Billboard charts in January 1992. Rock on.

Amok by Atoms for Peace

The last time Radiohead released an album, we bought it before hearing a single second of it. We’re also super excited about Radiohead frontman Thome Yorke’s latest project – the superband Atoms for Peace. Atoms for Peace is composed of Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Flea (The Red Hot Chili Peppers), Nigel Godrich (longtime Radiohead producer), Joey Waronker (R.E.M. and Beck), and Mauro Refosco (performed with the Chili Peppers and David Byrne). Their album Amok is available via streaming now, and releases on iTunes on 2/25 and is available for pre-order.

Song of the Week | Paper Planes by M.I.A.

It’s hard to think that a song with gun shots in the chorus would become so widely popular, but our Song of the Week, Paper Planes by M.I.A. proved that wrong. Born Mathangi Arulpragasam, M.I.A. blew up when Paper Planes was featured in the Pineapple Express movie trailer and she’s still churning out hits. The music video for Paper Planes above has over 31M views at the time of this writing!

Crush of the Week | Lykke Li

A girl with talent can be incredibly sexy and that’s why 26 year-old Swedish born singer-songwriter Lykke Li is our Crush of the Week. On top of her music career she has also modeled for brands such as Levi’s, but we can’t decide what we like more, looking at her or listening to her. Check out her music video for Sadness Is A Blessing below and if you dig it, download some of her music.
