You may be drooling over one of BMW’s more expensive and powerful models such as the M6, but don’t count out their sporty little guy, the M235i. With the 2 series, there’s only two engine options and the larger gets the “M” treatment (the 228′s have a 240hp engine, still not shabby for a car with a 3,525 lb curb weight). While some may protest that the second option doesn’t quite deserve the “M” badge and just be called the 235i, you can’t really argue with the performance. The 320 hp twin-turbo inline six gets the car from 0-60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. Plus, acceleration isn’t its only strength – 18″ wheels loaded with M Sport Brakes and Michelin Pilot SuperSport performance tires add grip and lots stopping power. For more year-round use, the M235 is also available with X-Drive (BMW’s all wheel drive) and for you warm climate folks – the convertible will be releasing soon as well. The M235i starts at a reasonable $43k but since it’s a Bimmer expect the price tag to climb with options.
