Samsung Gear VR

The Samsung Gear VR allows you to turn your Galaxy 4 smartphone into a virtual reality headset. The Samsung Gear VR sensors track your head movements and combined with the touchpad on the side of the headset, you can immerse yourself into 3D worlds, panoramic views and games. All applications are currently free from the Oculus VR App Store and some are even compatible with Android game controllers for an even more engaged experience. I recently took one of these futuristic goggles for a test drive and played some games. Unfortunately, I had to put it down after playing the VR version of Temple Run as I started to get quite sea-sick. That being said, I’m also a person who is very prone to motion sickness and the owner of the headset plays games on it for hours without turning even a slight shade of green. While the fast moving 3D games might be too much for me to handle without dramamine, I have to admit the device was extremely cool and it’s a major step forward in consumer accessible VR. Even though it’s cutting edge for today, I’d have to imagine that in a few years the technology will be able to fit in your sunglasses making it even more mainstream, and my 15 minute gaming experience and virtual store browsing definitely felt like like the future.
