If you’re a fan of The Lord of The Rings movie trilogy and/or books, why not read the prequel before the theatrical version comes out? First published in 1937 by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit went on to become a classic fantasy novel and inspire The Lord of The Rings (which wound up being published in three volumes) as well as The Silmarillion. Coming to theaters December 14th 2012 (yep you have to wait a while) The Hobbit film will feature returning cast from The Lord of The Rings and once again be directed by Peter Jackson. It’ll be interesting to see how closely the movie follows the storyline of the book, in which Bilbo Baggins sets off with Gandalf and Dwarves seeking treasure guarded by the dragon Smaug.
