Fourth of July is days away and odds are you’ll be doing some drinking this upcoming weekend. I know margaritas aren’t “American” drinks but come on, if you live in Texas – Mexico is like 14 feet away. OK, even if you’re heart is set on drinking Budweiser (now owned by a Belgian company by the way) to celebrate independence day, be sure to pick up a bottle of Patron for another summer occasion. Having a quality tequila makes a world of difference in the taste of your margarita, even if it’s of the frozen variety.
From Christopher Nolan, director of The Dark Knight, comes a new thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio called Inception. It is a bit hard to tell exactly what it’s about from the trailer, but it certainly does look cool. The film hits theaters July 16th and I’m very curious to see how it holds up to that movie with the bat guy.
I first started doing the SmartBells workout when I was wrestling in high school and did some summer training with the inventor (Paul Widerman, olympic wrestler). While many of the exercises are similar to traditional weight lifting, the smart bell routine does a better job of building endurance and is easier on your joints. Another great thing about using SmartBells is their portability. Not everyone has the room for exercise equipment in their home and you can get the same results as a “gym” workout with just one SmartBell. They come in a variety of weights to match different strength/experience levels and also include an instructional DVD. Nintendo raised the bar again when they announced the Nintendo 3DS at the E3 expo on June 15th. The already wildly popular portable DS system sees a major advancement – 3D gaming without any special glasses. Look for more information to be revealed in the next few months, I personally can’t wait to play some 3D Mario Kart!
When it comes to sports cars, nothing compares to a Ferrari. Their latest model, the 458 Italia, is the predecessor of the F430 which I had the pleasure of driving last summer. The 458 uses a mid-rear-mounted V8 that will get the car to 202 mph as it screams through the car’s three tailpipes. 0-60 is achieved in just 3.4 seconds, but be sure to take it for some slow drives through town so others can appreciate it’s beauty. Now, if I can just get my hands on one of these to test drive…..
When I first sat down to watch this movie, I wasn’t expecting anything great – just your typical shoot ‘em up Hollywood action movie. Man was I wrong. Liam Neeson is badder than Michael Jackson (even in the Bad video) when his teenage daughter is kidnapped by foreign sex traffickers. Having been a former government spy, he knows the ins and outs of the underworld and is willing to take down anyone who stands in the way of rescuing his child. The movie is constantly entertaining with lots of replay value (I’ve seen it like ten times) and currently only $14.99 on Amazon.
And the winner is…….(drumroll)……Bret Nolan! – You have 10 days to respond or a new winner will be selected at random!

Video games have come along way since the likes of Pong and Pacman. Nintendo revolutionized things when the released the motion sensitive experience with the Wii console. Microsoft takes things at step further – gaming without a controller. Previously called “Project Natal” the Xbox Kinect attachment takes your motion and voice controls without using any additional devices. That’s right – just wave your arms, jump around, and wiggle your hips to interact with the HD gameplay on your television. The titles announced with the launch are few, but look for this to become a breakthrough in the gaming world. $150
Sometimes two plus two equals five, and that’s usually what happens when talented musicians team up with Jack White. White (best known for The White Stripes) teams up with Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age) and Jack Lawrence (played with Jack White in The Raconteurs) resulting in a album layered with raw, wall-shaking rock. White hangs up his usual role of guitar playing front-man and sits behind the drums – he of course still does a lot of vocals on the album. Horehound was The Dead Weather’s first album and features killer songs such as I Cut Like a Buffalo and Treat Me Like Your Mother. $9.99
You want a fast Porsche, but need to shuttle an entourage. Problem solved: The Panamera Turbo. While comfortably seating four adults, this 500 hp turbocharged v8 beast gets your crew from 0-60 in four seconds flat. The interior is covered in leather and other fine materials - and all the creature comforts you’d expect in a luxury sedan are available. Comfort and size generally take away from performance, but Porsche seems to have figured things out. Starting at $132k

Today Steve Jobs revealed the much anticipated iPhone 4 – a significant upgrade to the already awesome Apple iPhone 3Gs. The new phone doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel but is rather a regular iPhone on steroids, adding features that original iPhone users long sought. One big feature is that it has front and rear cameras allowing video chat, cool ARG possibilities, and HD video recording. Running off the iPad’s A4 chip, the iPhone 4 will move along faster and the “Retina Display” with a 960 x 640 resolution will make viewing incredibly vivid. Also mentionable is that the iPhone 4 adds a gyroscope, which along with the existing accelerometer will enable even more precise gaming controls. Starting at $199 for a 16GB, pre-orders begin June 15th
The Godfather is one of my favorite movies and parts I-III make up one of the greatest trilogies of all time. The films have immense star power – Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, James Caan, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, and Diane Keaton, all providing incredible performances. Directed by master Coppola himself, each installment is a classic in it’s own right and a pleasure to watch over and over again. On sale on Amazon for $45, it’s an offer you can’t refuse…..
